Egypt, India discuss enhancing cooperation in IT sector

Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, met with Ajit Gupte, Ambassador of India to Cairo on Tuesday.
During the meeting, they discussed mechanisms to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and India in the sector of communications and information technology.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Communications, the meeting reviewed the top proposed cooperation projects between Egypt and India in the field of communications and information technology. It also discussed the ongoing preparations for Talaat's visit to India next week, which aims to create close ties between Egypt's experience and the successful Indian experience in the field of communications and information technology. They also discussed ways to enhance the Egyptian-Indian partnership in a number of fields of communications and information technology, and attract Indian investments to the Egyptian market.
During the meeting, the Minister of Communications said he aims to advance bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and information technology through joint work in implementing various projects.
Talaat explained that the Egyptian communications and information technology sector is seeing ongoing growth, as it is the highest growing sector in the country. This proves to be true with the implementation of a large number of projects aimed at achieving transformation into an integrated digital society, developing the information technology industry, and localizing the electronics industry.
He expressed his interest in his upcoming visit to India to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and information technology, especially in areas related to digital transformation, the electronics industry, building digital capabilities for youth, research and development, and cybersecurity.
For his part, Guptih expressed his interest in developing cooperation between Egypt and India in the field of communications and information technology.
He shed light on the development witnessed by the communications and information technology sector in India and its role in developing the national economy. The sector contributes about 8% of the total gross domestic product in India. He also explained the Indian government's efforts to support education and training and encourage entrepreneurship in the fields of information and communication technology, pointing to the important role of the private sector in developing the Indian communications and information technology industry.
