Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met on Tuesday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Transport Kamel Al-Wazir to follow up on development efforts in different sea ports.
The president directed that the ports be developed in an integrated manner that includes the surroundings of those ports in a way that enhances their ability to support the trade movement.
Al-Sisi also claimed that the renaissance of nations depends vitally on the transport network of ports, airports, roads and hubs, as an infrastructure supporting all sectors of the state.
During the meeting, Al-Wazir pointed out that the ministry works on developing the management and operation systems of ports to end the accumulation of goods in ports and ensure their smooth transit, especially production requirements.
He explained that these measures would contribute to doubling the country's domestic production and providing job opportunities in sectors that depend on the efficiency of ports, especially agriculture and industry.
Al-Wazir also presented the existing efforts to develop the "Alexandria Grand Port", which will include the port of Alexandria, the port of Dekheila and the central port in the Al-Max region, including developments in the construction of the infrastructure for new storage yards, a multi-purpose terminal as well as a large breakwater and various logistical areas, as well as the restoration of Rehabilitation of the marine services berth in the port.
The progress of work was also presented to complete and develop the ports of East Port Said and Damietta, especially with regard to container handling terminals, berths and multi-purpose terminals therein, in partnership with international expertise and the private sector.
The President was also briefed on the executive position of the works currently underway to develop the Ain Sokhna port, including the works of supports, internal roads, sidewalks and stations, as well as the Sokhna / Dekheila axis, and the first line of the express electric train, which will connect the Red Sea to the northern coast (Ain Sukhna / Alexandria / El Alamein / Marsa Matrouh) with a length of 675 km and a total of 34 stations.
