Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs held on Saturday a preparatory meeting for the 31st Arab Summit that is scheduled to be held on between 1 and 2 November under the chairmanship of Algeria amid expectations of making decisions that serve Arab integration in the face of the current challenges.
Previously, Algerian FM Ramtane Lamamra received the rotating presidency of the summit from his Tunisian counterpart Osman Jerandi.
The ministerial session was devoted to the adoption of the draft agenda of the summit and the consideration of draft resolutions. Additionally, a consultative session will be held on Sunday.
During the meeting the ministers discussed the document that will come out of the Arab Summit that will be referred to as the 'Algiers Declaration' and will address all the issues that were discussed through permanent delegates and ministers.
The ministers also discussed the importance of the Arab food security file and the implications of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its impact on the import of grain from these two countries to Arab countries.
Moreover, they stressed the need for Arab countries and organisations to assess the situation of Arab food security and come up with a set of concrete proposals to advance this regard, which will be endorsed by Arab leaders and will be implemented immediately after the summit.
