Finance Minister meets representatives of international institutions during IMF & World Bank Annual Meetings Participants in discussions on economic recovery from global challenges
Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, accompanied by Ahmed Kochouck, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Policies and Institutional Development, participated in the 2022 International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Washington on Tuesday. Under the title "Unity in Time of Crisis", the participants will exchange visions and ideas and provide effective solutions to the effects resulting from successive global economic crises, highlighting the importance of the collective role of various countries in cooperation with international development institutions in overcoming the repercussions of global challenges, and moving forward towards economic recovery in various fields. According to a statement by the Ministry of Finance, Maait held a number of bilateral meetings and discussions, and participated in round tables, where he meet with Jihad Azour, Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department at the International Monetary Fund; and Antoinette Sayeh, Deputy Director General of the International Monetary Fund. He also held meetings with African ministers of finance and planning to discuss the global financial situation and economic challenges in the African continent, and the alliance of finance ministers in various countries to review the plan to confront climate change, and efforts to transform the green economy. Maait is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Elena Flores, Deputy Director for Financial and Economic Affairs of the European Union, to discuss ways of economic and structural reforms in Egypt, and Sigrid Kaag, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Netherlands. He will also participate in a number of round tables with international organizations and companies, major international institutions and credit rating institutions, including Fitch, Standard & Poor's, Moody's, Golden Man Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Societe Generale, JPMorgan, and Euromoney, in addition to attending meetings of a number of international banks, most notably Standard & Chartered, the German Central Bank, BNP Paribas, HSBC, the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Dubai Islamic Bank, AlexBank, Euroclear Bank, Emirates NBD, Credit Agricole, and Citibank.
