Egypt's Minister of Agriculture Elsayed Elkosayer received Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Gabriel Ibrahim, this week to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the field of training, capacity building, and agricultural investment.
ElKosayer stressed the depth of the historical and eternal relationship between Egypt and Sudan, which witnessed great development during the era of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, noting that there are presidential directives to provide all aspects of support to brotherly Sudan.
The two ministers also discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of training, capacity building, agricultural investment, joint farms, rural development, mechanisation, digital transformation, and the exploitation of natural resources, along with cooperation in the field of livestock and fisheries, veterinary convoys, and the production of vaccines in the interest of both countries.
ElKosayer said that Egypt has witnessed a great renaissance in various agricultural fields and has established giant projects in this field, as it owns a group of distinguished and internationally accredited research institutes, indicating Egypt's readiness to transfer its experience to its brothers in Sudan as well as receiving Sudanese trainees for training in Egyptian research centres in various agricultural activities.
He also reviewed Egypt's experience in the field of agricultural lending and financing, especially for small farmers and educators, and supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises with soft interest, as well as financing irrigation modernisation projects with a ten-year loan without interest.
For his part, Gabriel expressed his happiness for visiting Cairo, praising the development of relations between the two countries and the renaissance witnessed by the Egyptian agricultural sector, expressing his aspiration to benefit from the Egyptian experience, especially in the field of fish and animal wealth.
The Sudanese minister also invited ElKosayer to visit Sudan at the head of a technical delegation of experts and specialists to complete discussions and take practical steps to implement agreements on the ground.
The meeting was attended by Sudan's Ambassador to Cairo Mohamed Elias and Saad Musa, Supervisor of Foreign Agricultural Relations at the Ministry of Agriculture.
