Egypt shares the same vision of France in regard with environmental issues, especially climate change and conservation of biodiversity, according to Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad. Fouad made her remarks during a meeting with French Ambassador in Cairo Marc Baréty, and members of the French Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives of French companies operating in Egypt, according to a statement by the Environment Ministry on Monday. The meeting aimed to discuss the environment file in Egypt, hosting the next climate conference COP27, and future cooperation opportunities with the French business community. During the meeting, Fouad pointed to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's initiative to link the three Rio conventions during Egypt's presidency of the Biodiversity Conference in 2018, and then France also launched its initiative to link the three topics. For his part, the French ambassador stressed that climate change has become a challenge facing the entire world, which requires concerted efforts of everyone to address and confront its effects. He also appreciated Egypt's role and efforts in supporting the climate change file and its aspiration for what it will present during the next climate conference to reach actual measures for the Paris Agreement. Meanwhile, representatives of the French business community praised Egypt's efforts in the environment file in general, and its support for partnership with the private sector in implementing environmental projects, and its unremitting efforts to push the climate change file, especially with regard to financing.
