Taqa Arabia, Germany's MAN Energy partner to produce green hydrogen in Egypt
Published in Daily News Egypt on 16 - 08 - 2021

Egypt's TAQA Power, TAQA Arabia's subsidiary, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German company MAN Energy Solutions, regarding a pilot project to produce green hydrogen locally in Egypt for the purpose of providing clean fuel for tourist buses.
In a statement, the company indicated that under the MoU, TAQA, in cooperation with MAN Energy Solutions, will prepare a feasibility study over the next six months for the use of electrolysis solutions in hydrogen fuel stations.
The expected production of green hydrogen in Egypt comes in the context of the growing international interest in alternative fuels, in order to reduce the environmental impact and slow down climate change. This becomes achievable by enabling Egypt to generate and use hydrogen from renewable energy, rather than fossil fuels.
Samy Abdelkader, Managing Director of TAQA Electricity, said: "TAQA intends to lead the private sector towards participating in achieving the sustainable development goals set by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for Egypt Vision 2030. We intend to implement this by following the state's strategies for energy sustainability, in addition to supporting the efforts of the Ministry of Environment to reduce harmful emissions, we all hope to contribute to creating a better future free of carbon pollution".
Ghassan Saab, Regional Head of the Energy Sector at Man Energy Solutions, said: "We are proud of this interesting project in partnership with a leading entity like TAQA, especially that it is planned to be implemented under the auspices of an enlightened country like Egypt".
He noted that MAN Energy Solutions is looking forward to the opportunity to showcase its expertise in hydrogen processing. "We also look forward to working alongside TAQA, in order to find the best solutions to instill its position in one of the most important markets shaping the future," he added.
