Member of Parliament (MP) Mohamed Mustafa Elsallab has submitted a briefing request to Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea regarding the export of raw wool. The brief covers suppliers of raw wool refraining from supplying the product to local manufacturers, who double its prices, and export it abroad without any industrial operations to benefit from high international prices. The Handicraft Industry Chamber submitted requests to the Ministry of Trade and Industry to stop the export of raw wool. The doubling in prices due to the increase in export operations has affected thousands of female-lead households and productive families working in this type of craft. This means that all support should be given to these groups, to ensure these industries and handicrafts are protected, Elsallab indicated in the briefing request. There is an urgent need to reconsider the allowances for the export of raw materials without any industrial process. This is in the light of the Egyptian Government's efforts to deepen local manufacturing and increase the added value in the industry. This will ensure that raw materials will be provided to local industry, and to increase the local added value in the Egyptian industry, he asserted.
