GLC Paints is providing EGP 500 grants to construction painters through Fawry outlets across Egypt in an initiative to help those affected by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The move by GLC Paints comes as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. The company has also responded to government and social calls for private sector companies to support workers in the current conditions. GLC Paints confirmed that the implementation of the grant disbursement process will be easy, as workers will receive short messages via mobile phone. They will be asked to go to the nearest Fawry outlet to replace the cash voucher and receive the amount of cash. Ahmed Nader, Commercial Director of Fawry, said the new GLC initiative is important for affected employees and maximises the return on digital technology. Fawry will play its part in handing out grants to the company's workers. The e-payment network's outlets will be the mediator between GLC Paints and the workers who use their products, in obtaining the grants allocated to them. Nader emphasised that the trend towards financial inclusion and digital technology is the best option, especially due to the current circumstances that require preventive measures and safer means of disbursing financial dues. The increased digitisation of daily activities mitigates the impact on citizens whilst reducing movement and crowding. Nader added that cooperation with GLC comes as part of Fawry's role in supporting social initiatives aimed at serving larger sectors of companies and institutions. It is also targeting a broader base of clients in all categories, especially workers and employees.
