Abdel Aaty presents Egypt's vision on GERD to Ethiopia
Ethiopian side was invited to share Egypt's experiences and prepare for joint bilateral projects

Egypt's Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aaty, presented on Friday, the Egyptian vision regarding the rules of filling and operating the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) to his Ethiopian counterpart, during a meeting in Addis Ababa.
The meeting came in preparation for the six-party meeting, between ministers of foreign affairs and irrigation in Egypt, Ethiopia, as well as Sudan.
In a statement on Friday, the Ministry of Irrigation said that the Egyptian experiences in the field of water resources management, raising the efficiency of use and controlling waterweed have been presented during the meeting.
The Ethiopian side was invited to share these experiences and prepare for joint bilateral projects, to support and consolidate cooperation between the two countries.
Ahead of his visit to Ethiopia, Abdel Aaty's was in Sudan on Thursday, to discuss the two countries' visions on issues of mutual interest, with the participation of two official delegations from ministries of foreign affairs and irrigation.
In Khartoum, the Egyptian minister consulted with his Sudanese counterpart Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, regarding negotiations over the GERD.
Mohamed Al-Sebaie, spokesperson for the irrigation ministry said that Egypt aims to reach a fair and lasting agreement with Ethiopia and Sudan on the GERD.
He added that Egypt seeks to finalise discussions with Ethiopia and Sudan in the framework of cooperation and common interest after the reaching stability in Khartoum.
