ADDIS ABABA, May 15, 2018 (MENA) - Egypt's ministerial delegation participating in a nine-way meeting on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) arrived here on Tuesday. The Egyptian delegation includes Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Acting Chief of Intelligence Abbas Kamel and Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel Aati. The ministers of foreign affairs, irrigation, heads of intelligence agencies in Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia are taking part in the nine-way meeting on GERD. The meeting aims at following up on the outcome of the first nine-way meeting held in Khartoum on April 4 based on directives of leaders of the three countries during their summit meeting held in Addis Ababa in January. The three-way technical committee meeting on GERD, held in Addis Ababa on May 5, failed to ratify an introductory report of the consultancy office, which has already been approved by Egypt. Today's meeting aims at working out solutions to pending problems facing the technical committee and consequently special studies on determining the negative impact of the dam's construction on the downstream Nile Basin countries.
