Mitiga airport halts air traffic after air strikes on Tripoli

Authorities at Mitiga airport in the Libyan capital Tripoli announced on Monday night on its Facebook official page the halting of all flights and operations in the airport, after the airport was targeted by an air strike.
Despite the airport's authorities not providing further details about the attack.
Mitiga International airport in Tripoli is the only airport in the Libyan capital that operates flights after the closure of Tripoli airport early in September 2018.
Tripoli airport was closed after deadly clashes and violence which resulted in at least 40 deaths and dozens of injuries. Until 2014, the airport was an airbase for commercial flights.
Meanwhile, forces affiliated to the Government of National Accord (GNA) in Libya announced on Sunday night that it has confronted an attack by LNA forces against southern Tripoli.
On 4 April 2019, the LNA launched a military operation on Tripoli. The operation resulted in the death of 1,093 and injured 5,762, while the number of people who fled their homes reached 100,000.
