Tatweer Misr, an Egyptian real estate developer, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the Ocean County College (OCC) in order to establish Egypt's first American International Branch Campus (IBC) in Egypt at Bloomfields' project in Mostakbal City, east Cairo.
During a press conference held on Tuesday, the CEO and Managing Director of Tatweer Misr, Ahmed Shalaby, said that this signing comes as part of a lineup of agreements with internationally acclaimed universities and schools, spreading across a 90-feddan educational district at Bloomfields.
"We are thrilled to collaborate with both the NJIT and the OCC as both institutions' main ethos is focused on employing innovative methods of learning," emphasised Shalaby.
Furthermore, Shalaby pointed out that the negotiations between the two parties took about 14 months in order to reach an agreement.
For his part, President of the NJIT, Joel Bloom, added, "Tatweer Misr is enabling the NJIT, which is a highly-ranked global polytechnic university that has had significant success in educating diverse populations of college students with the knowledge and skills that are in great demand by engineering, science, and technology-based industries."
"The NJIT has transformed the lives of its students through preparation for professional success," President of the OCC, Jon Larson, added, stating further, "This partnership marks a milestone to ensure a smooth transition for our students and will allow them to engage with people and places from all over the region. The opportunities are limitless."
