16 new companies approved in national project of small solar cells
List includes Egyptian Solar Energy Systems Co., Evergreen, Infinity, Egypt Power

The National Project for Solar Cell Systems (Egypt-pv) has approved 16 new solar energy companies to implement projects for the production of electricity from small solar cells connected to the network.
Hind Farouh, project manager, told Daily News Egypt that there are 38 approved companies in total, including 22 companies approved in June, then the recently approved 16 new companies.
She added that a number of companies applying to join the national project of small solar cells have not been accepted because of their inability to implement the entire solar plant, but only some work in small stations, which is not enough, as she put it.
Daily News Egypt obtained the list of the new companies, which includes Egyptian Solar Energy Systems Co., Evergreen Solar, Infinity Solar, Electromatic, Greenfox, KarmSolar, Hammer Electric For Solar Technology, Green Tech Solutions, Solar Power, Global Egypt, Smart Engineering Solutions, among others.
The list includes Hammer Electric, Green Tech Solutions, Solar Power, Global Egypt, Smart Engineering Solutions, Al Arabiya Facilities Management and Smart Engineering Solutions.
Farouh said a meeting will be held within weeks to discuss applications from companies to set up solar plants within the project and benefit from the financial and technical support provided by the Global Environment Facility, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Industrial Modernization Centre.
According to the project's controls, financial support equivalent to 25% of the value of the solar cell systems for the industrial sector projects is provided, with a subsidy of $250 per kilowatt installed, up to a maximum of $37,500 for capacities up to 150 kW.
Farouh explained that technical support is provided as well in the form of guides to design and install solar cell systems.
In addition, support is provided in implementing and operating a technical system for the deployment of solar cell systems on the basis of a scalable system, a detailed review and evaluation of the progress of the project.
The project aims to support the spread of the use of small solar cells, especially decentralized production plants that are installed in residential and commercial buildings, public buildings, hotels and industrial facilities, which is a catalyst for the spread of the use of small solar stations connected to the network.
It also aims at the establishment of centres to provide technical support and consultancy, increase the percentage of the local manufacturing component, prepare technical experts and support the emerging markets of this technology in Egypt with new employment opportunities for young people and remove the barriers to increase the production of energy by small solar cells,
