We will announce an integrated plan for development of technical education within two weeks: education minister
98% of graduates of the Dabaa nuclear school will work at station: Tarek Shawky

The Ministry of Education will announce in two weeks an integrated plan for the development of technical education in Egypt, according to Minister of Education Tarek Shawky.
The minister told Daily News Egypt that 55% of the students are enrolled in technical education, noting that the problem is not in preparation, but in quality. He added, “if we raise quality, we do not need labour from abroad.” The ministry will also expand the experience of model schools in teaching students a craft.
He pointed out that the plan, which will be announced, will contribute to attracting many citizens to technical schools. “When people are convinced that technical education is good, they will join it,” he explained.
Shawky explained that the initiative “Makers of Egypt” launched in the last week of Ramadan, is the strategy of the ministry to develop the outputs of technical education.
Moreover, he pointed out that Egypt is facing a rise in unemployment rates along with the scarcity of skilled labour. The ministry decided to start developing these students' skills to meet the needs of the labour market and to develop youth in technical schools.
Shawky said that 98% of the graduates from the Dabaa nuclear school will work in the power plant, given that their acceptance in the school was after interviews and technical and psychological tests.
He explained that the Dabaa school is the first technical school for peaceful nuclear energy in Egypt and in the Arab world.
The ministry has held interviews to select 1,500 teachers in the Egyptian-Japanese schools as a first batch. The students are scheduled to begin applying within days.
