Electricity Ministry contracts with 3 companies to implement electrical, mechanical works for EGP 2.1bn
Elsewedy will handle mechanical works of Assiut electricity plant for EGP 1.5bn

The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) has signed four contracts to implement the tanks yard in the electricity plants of west Cairo and Assiut's Al Walideya, as well as the "keys yard" for a west Cairo plant. The companies will also be implementing the mechanical works operation for Al-Walideya plant, for a value of EGP 2.125bn.
Gabir Al Desouky, chairperson of the EEHC, said that a contract was signed for the tanks of the west Cairo and Assiut plants with Hilal Construction Company for a value of EGP 98m.
He explained that the implementation period is 32 months starting from the assignment date, in addition to 24 months as a guarantee period for each project. The work includes designing, manufacturing, and supplying a diesel tank, a heating oil tank, condensing water tank of stainless steel, and a saltless water tank.
The contract for the keys yard operation, with 220-500 kV capacity for the project of the West Cairo electricity plant was signed, with the alliance of Posco Daewoo Corp and Hyundai Electric.
The contracting value of the west Cairo keys yard is EGP 454.2m. Part of the cost is paid in dollars, and the implementation period of the project is 32 months since the assignment order date, in addition to a 24 month guarantee period.
The works of this operation include designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, training, and carrying out tests, as well as starting operation of the gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) with 500 kV and 220 kV capacities.
Al Desouky explained that the EEHC has signed a contract for the mechanical work and installation of pipes for the Assiut electricity plant with Elsewedy Company.
The contracting value to implement these works as well as installing the pipes in the Walideya plant is expected to cost EGP 1.5bn. Part of the value will be paid in euros, and another part will be paid in dollars. The implementation period is 29 months, in addition to a 24 month guarantee period.
The works for this operation's implementation includes supplying, installing, and testing mechanical equipments, such as pumps, air compressors, emergency diesel generators, and non-critical pump works.
These projects come within the framework of the electricity sector's plan to continue the implementation of all its projects and to meet the needs of all sectors in terms of electric feeding.
