House of Lords members demand resuming flights to Sharm ELSheikh
Published in Daily News Egypt on 07 - 11 - 2017

An action request which is equivalent to the Egyptian parliament briefing call, was submitted by 40 members from the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, demanding the acceleration of lifting the travel ban and resuming flights to Sharm El-Sheikh since the Egyptian government has implemented all procedures to secure and develop Egyptian airports.
Most countries of the world resumed their flights to Sharm El-Sheikh. Additionally, the British delegations and officials who have recently visited Egypt assured that all the airports in Egypt are secured especially Sharm EL Sheikh airport.
On the sidelines of the London Stock Exchange Tourism Fair, the Egyptian Ambassador in London Nasser Kamel said in a press statement that all security experts who visited Sharm El-Sheikh airport praised the measures taken by the Egyptian government in this regard.
Moreover, Kamel said that the House of Lords of the United Kingdom strongly supports Egypt in its request to lift the travel ban on Sharm El Sheikh.
He added that Egypt is seeking through several British departments in addition to the parliament to lift the travel ban as soon as possible.
"We are waiting for a political decision to reflect the size of the great shift that occurred At Sharm El-Sheikh airport, which has became a role model for the world," said Kamel.
"The question of the expected date for lifting the British travel ban to Sharm El-
Sheikh should be asked to the British government as Egypt in coordination with the British
government, has implemented a full program for the developing security systems in various Egyptian airports, especially Sharm El-Sheikh," Kamel responded to a question raised by a British journalist.
Furthermore, he added that many UK inspection committees who visited the Egyptian airports, wrote positive reports about them.
In the same context, Kamel stressed that the inspection procedures at Sharm El-Sheikh airport are much better than many other international airports.
Earlier, the ban was imposed five days after a crash in October 2015 that caused the death of 224 people , when their Metro jet charter flight from Sharm El-Sheikh to Saint Petersburg in Russia crashed in the Sinai desert. It is thought that a bomb was placed on board at the Egyptian airport.
So the UK Government took the decision of banning the British airlines from flying from the Red Sea airport until a team of security experts is satisfied with the standards in the place.
