TE Data distributors criticise Mega Plus bundles
Speed reduced from 16Mbps to 128Kbps after finishing the basic quota
Published in Daily News Egypt on 02 - 11 - 2016

The Egyptian internet service provider TE Data launched a new ADSL bundle named Mega Plus bundles, promising higher speeds and greater capacities.
Some of the company's authorised distributors have criticised these bundles, saying that the high speeds are only available for limited use and not unlimited as the company had previously announced.
The bundles provide the possibility of obtaining higher speeds up to 16Mbps through the company's landline internet service. This or the choice of a number of different speed bundles for internet use are offered along with access to all the movies and TV shows on the company's SHAHID Plus. TE Data also will provide a free WiFi router when clients subscribe to any of the Mega Plus bundles.
One of the authorised distributors said that these new bundles do not provide the agreed-speed for the whole duration of the subscription, as the speed reduces after finishing the basic quota.
According to the distributor, customers receive speeds of up to 16Mbps with different quotas. If customers end their quotas, they are transferred to a lower speed quota, then finally slowing to 128Kbps.
The distributor explained that TE Data has four bundles that operate at 16Mbps and a bundle that operates at 1Mbps. However these speeds are not unlimited. For instance if you purchase the highest quota, 500GB, after finishing that amount, the speed of the connection will decelerate to 4Mbps and then bottoming out at 128Kbps, which is for unlimited use.
Mega Plus includes five different bundles that start from EGP 100 at 1Mbps speed and a 100GB quota.
The other four bundles provide a speed of 16Mbps. The first bundle's price is EGP 160 with a 100GB quota. The second bundle amounts to EGP 260 pounds with a 200GB quota. The third bundle priced at EGP 360 with a 300GB quota. The last bundle's quota is 500GB and costs EGP 500.
