CAIRO: Ahmed "Mido Hossam asked Zamalek s technical staff to give him permission to do some extra work in training in a bid to regain full fitness. The towering striker, who joined Zamalek from Middlesbrough on a season-long loan, hardly made an impact in his first two matches with the Cairo giants. He wasted a penalty few minutes after his second-half introduction in the team s 2-1 league defeat to Petrojet. Mido was also a peripheral figure when he came on as a second-half substitute in Zamalek s 2-2 draw at Arab Contractors on Monday. The 26-year-old, who appeared short of match fitness, is now aiming to lose weight by conducting individual training program. Mido said he hoped to impress in his new adventure to regain his place in Egypt s squad. He is also seeking a return to European football next season.
