Prosecution echoes police narrative in killing of Ain Shams student
Official narrative states dead student jumped from second floor, escaping raid on brothel; family, student union claim he was detained, tortured to death

The Egyptian prosecution echoed on Thursday the narrative initiated by the Ministry of Interior, regarding the killing of medical student Ahmed Kamal, claiming that he died escaping from a police force that raided a brothel.
The prosecution said that the police force had sources inside the brothel which confirmed "that men and women headed to the spa seeking pleasure". It claimed that as the police force raided the spa, Kamal jumped out the window, resulting in his death. It added that he had a bag which allegedly included "two unused condoms".
The prosecution's investigation acquitted the police from the charge of killing Kamal.
Nevertheless, Kamal's family insisted that he was arrested from his house due to a prison sentence he received in absentia. The family added that he was beaten to death.
Friends of Kamal condemned the police narrative, describing it as "fabricated and absurd".
The student union of the faculty of medicine at Ain Shams University said in a statement that Kamal was killed on purpose, adding that any other narrative related to his death is "an attempt to hide the truth," while asserting that he was arrested and deported to the Nasr City police station.
The student union demanded an investigation into the incident.
