EgyptAir resumes flight to France after bomb suspected on board
The threat appeared to be a false alarm, and the flight was resumed, says Cairo International airport media office

Cairo International airport media office reported on Tuesday morning that security authorities in the airport suspected that a bomb was on board flight No 799 heading to Paris. The flight was put back on schedule following a thorough security check.
Flight No 799 was travelling to France in the early hours of Tuesday morning when security authorities suspected there was a bomb in a briefcase left inside the cabin during cleaning before takeoff, Cairo airport's media office told Daily News Egypt.
"There are 274 passengers on board. They were all evacuated from the Airbus 300/320, and all luggage was also removed from the aeroplane, following which a thorough security check of the aeroplane was conducted," the media office clarified.
Following the security check, the aeroplane was granted permission to depart from Cairo International airport.
Egypt's tourism significantly declined following the 25 January Revolution; however, tourism suffered even more when a Russian aeroplane crashed shortly after taking off from Sharm El-Sheikh airport in October 2015. All 224 passengers and crew on board were killed. In November, the Islamic State-affiliated group, Sinai Province, claimed responsibility for the aeroplane crash, which they claim was executed with an improvised explosive device (IED).
As a result of the crash, the Russia, United Kingdom, and Germany suspended their direct flights to Sharm El-Sheikh.
