A student died Tuesday from injuries sustained in an explosion last April in a farm in Beni Suef, after two months of hospitalisation in Beni Suef's university hospital. The prosecution branch in the governorate ordered the body of Islam Mohamed Ragae, a student at the Faculty of Pharmacy, be buried after all legal procedure are completed. The explosion in April left four suspects dead, and injured Ragae. The official narrative after preliminary inspection of the site indicated the individuals killed themselves by accident while they were planting the explosive device. The Interior Ministry said the suspects were members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Meanwhile, the pro-Morsi Anti Coup Alliance (ACA) and the families of the deceased held the police responsible for the deaths of their relatives. They said that police tried to arrest the five men, but failed therefore they threw explosives at them. Following the incident, the police said more explosives were found in the vicinity of the farm where the explosion took place. Ragae's family said their relative was not given enough treatment while he was hospitalised, and died due to maltreatment. However, the hospital denied the accusations. Small explosive devices have become increasingly common in Egypt over the past several months.
