An explosion took place along the railway tracks of the Fayoum-Beni Suef line in the evening of 22 November, according to a statement released by the media centre of the Ministry of Interior. Upon arriving at the site of the blast, police found the charred body of an unidentified man. A preliminary inspection of the site indicated the individual killed himself by accident while planting the explosive device, according to the statement. Security forces proceeded to comb the railway lines in contiguous areas in Beni Suef province and allegedly found three another three explosive devices on the Aswan-Cairo line. Explosive experts deactivated the devices, said the statement. Investigations to determine the identity of the deceased man and apprehend eventual accomplices are currently underway, said the Ministry of Interior. A bomb exploded on a train in Menufiya governorate on 6 November, killing four people and injuring eight. Small explosive devices have become increasingly common in Egypt over the past several months.
