Bomb explodes near Beni Suef police station, no injuries
Published in Daily News Egypt on 11 - 11 - 2014

A bomb exploded near the Beni Suef city council building, next to the city's police station, on Tuesday morning, with no injuries reported. Security forces located two more bombs in the same area, which explosive experts were able to defuse.
Personnel from the security directorate and the ambulance department secured the area around the city council building.
The homemade bombs, which were connected to a detonator, were planted by "unknown elements", according to state-run newspaper Al-Ahram. Small bombs have become a frequent occurrence over the past few months in Egypt.
On Sunday, one man was killed in El-Maymoun village in the Beni Suef governorate during clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and police forces.
The Ministry of Interior announced Tuesday that two alleged members of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group were attempting to plant homemade bombs near a police station in the city of Tanta.
"The suspects were ambushed after they got out from a car outside of the police station to plant the bombs," said the ministry in a statement. "They confessed to possessing explosive materials and remote detonators."
While the two were arrested, the driver of the vehicle was able to escape and yet to be caught.
In a separate statement, the ministry announced that two other Brotherhood members were arrested in Cairo for inciting violence against police and army personnel through their Facebook pages.
The pages, the ministry said, "encouraged violence against police and army officers, called for staging protests and also claimed responsibility for several acts of violence".
The suspects were arrested possessing computer devices with materials and video footage of the Brotherhood.
