Sunday saw the return of 3,107 Egyptians to Egypt through the Salloum Libyan border, state media reported. According to Marsa Matruh's Security Director Al-Anani Hammouda, the border crossing witnessed increasing numbers of fleeing Egyptians in the past few days. This comes following the airstrikes which targeted "Islamic State" (IS) in Libya, conducted by the Egyptian army in coordination with the Libyan government. More than 150 Egyptians had fled Libya via air transport from the Tunisian city of Djerba and arrived at Cairo International Airport on Friday. The number of Egyptians fleeing Libya has seen a sudden boost shortly after a video was released video show and IS beheading 20 Egyptian Copts and a non-Egyptian on Libyan territories.
