Egypt's prosecutor general, Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, returned to office on Thursday after the ouster of President Mohamed Morsi, and following a court order to reinstate him in office last Tuesday. On Thursday, several lawyers went to the Supreme Judicial Council to support the return of Mahmoud for the office of the Prosecutor General. "Abdel Meguid Mahmoud was made to leave; it is time to get him back to take the right decisions the country needs," said Adel Hassan, a lawyer. A lawsuit was filed against Prosecutor General Talaat Abdallah to prove his invalidity and demand his removal immediately. "Abdel Meguid Mahmoud faced threats and pressure from the now ‘past regime.' The Muslim Brotherhood wanted to appoint their man Talaat Abdallah to secure their illegal acts," said Hassan. Abdel Meguid returned to office, and a conference will be held to soon to discuss the isolation of Talaat Abdallah, as Hassan reported. Mahmoud, who served under Mubarak's regime, was removed from office following a constitutional declaration made by former president Morsi in Novemeber.
