Cairo Court of Appeals on Sunday adjourned Prosecutor General Tala'at Abdallah's request for the recusal of the court bench that reversed his appointment until Tuesday. The request resulted in the temporary suspension of the removal order on Abdallah until the case is resolved. The judicial affairs circuit of the Cairo Court of Appeals had ruled to reverse President Mohamed Morsi's appointment of Abdallah and his dismissal of Abdel Meguid Mahmoud, his predecessor, in March. Morsi appointed Abdallah unilaterally through a constitutional decree removing Mahmoud in November and Mahmoud appealed his removal. The judicial affairs circuit of the Cairo Court of Appeals was meant to rule on Mahmoud's request for an executive report detailing how the ruling to restore him to office should be carried out on Sunday. However, it cannot do so until the Cairo Court of Appeals settles the matter of Abdallah's bench recusal request. Although Abdallah is yet to appeal the verdict reversing his appointment, he has been carrying out his duties as prosecutor general since it was issued. Mahmoud is demanding an executive report so that he can demand the enforcement of the court order.
