/div id="largeShowcase" class="showcase large inner" Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of the presidential palace in Heliopolis Monday night and clashed with security forces posted outside the palace gates. The crowd was protesting against President Mohamed Morsi, many calling for his departure. Some used the familiar green-coloured lasers to identify security forces posted on the palace roof. Masked protesters attempted to remove the barbed wire securing the palace gates, prompting security forces to disperse them with water canons. Protesters responded by throwing rocks at the gates and policemen operating the water cannons. Calm was stored after hours of clashes. * Published: 7 days ago on February 12, 2013 * Daily News Egypt * Last Modified: February 12, 2013 @ 5:34 pm * Filed Under: Politics More Galleries * Calls for Civil disobedience in Port Said February 17, 2013 * In pictures: Al Qubba Palace clashes February 16, 2013 * In pictures: Opposition protest in Tahrir Square February 15, 2013 * In pictures: Islamists demonstrate against violence February 15, 2013 * Photo Gallery: Saint Samaan church February 13, 2013 * In Pictures: Clashes around Itihadiya February 12, 2013 * In pictures: March to Tahrir February 8, 2013 * In Pictures: 6 April march demands justice for Jika February 6, 2013 About the author Daily News Egypt View all articles by Daily News Egypt » Leave a comment * * Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
