Judges call on prosecutor general to return to judiciary
Published in Daily News Egypt on 26 - 12 - 2012

The Supreme Judicial Court and Judges' Club asked that Public Prosecutor, Tala'at Ibrahim Abdallah, in the best interest of the country's judges and public prosecution, to agree to leave his post and return to his previous position as a judge, saying that everyone at some point finds themselves in this post regardless of their performance.
The news came at the conclusion of a joint meeting held between the Supreme Judicial Court, President of the Egyptian Judges' Club Ahmed Al-Zind and a number of presidents of local judges' clubs to discuss Egypt's current crisis regarding its public prosecutor. The meeting consisted of a number of lectures and ended with four main suggestions to help contain this crisis and the effects of its fallout.
According to state-owned news agency MENA, lecturers from the Supreme Judicial Court, Egyptian Judges' Club and local Judges' Clubs all called on members of the public prosecution to conduct their work while keeping in mind the interests of the nation.
The High Judges' Council stated that it hoped that judges and the public prosecution would be able to accomplish their goals on all other issues and that this was a right guaranteed to all.
Both Ahmed Al-Zind, president of the Judges' Club and the presidents of smaller, local judges' clubs, all agreed to suspend their general assemblies until next Sunday, in light of what was discussed during their current meeting.
State-run Al-Ahram said that a source in the judiciary stated Abdallah will not answer calls from the Judges' Club and Supreme Judicial Court and will remain in his position.
