By Mahmoud Ewis The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics published a yearly report indicating that the number of foreigners currently employed in the government sector fell to 675 in 2011, down from 870 in 2010, a decrease of 22.4%. The number of foreigners working in the Egyptian public sector decreased as a result of the January 25th revolution and its aftermath. The report showed that European countries accounted for the largest segment of foreigners working in the public sector with 337, or 49.9% in 2011. Arab countries accounted for 116 workers, or 17.2%, followed by Asian countries with 100 workers, or 14.8%. Oceania accounted for the lowest number of foreigner workers with only four. According to the report, 60% of foreigners working in the Egyptian public sector have university degrees, while 23.9% had post graduate degrees. 16.1% had qualifications less than a university degree. Foreigners working for government agencies accounted for 52.3% of the total, or 353, with 95 working in the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation. The number of foreigners employed in the public sector accounted is 227, or 33.6%, 99 of which are working in The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company. 55 foreigners or 8.1% are working in the governorates. Foreigners working in ministries accounted for the smallest number, with only 40, or 5.9% of the total, with 24 working in the Ministry of Culture.
