Sawiris files complaint to the Prosecutor General against head of FJP
Published in Daily News Egypt on 07 - 07 - 2011

CAIRO: Businessman and main founder of the Free Egyptians Party (FEP), Naguib Sawiris, filed Tuesday a complaint to the Prosecutor General against the leader of the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), Mohamed Morsi, accusing him of slander and inciting violence against him.
Sawiris also accused Morsi of hurting the national economy by calling on Egyptians to boycott his companies.
The FJP's Morsi attacked Sawiris in a public meeting in Mansoura after the latter shared a cartoon of a bearded and veiled Mickey and Minnie on his twitter account, that many considered insulting. Morsi called Sawiris and the FEP "a failure."
Morsi said that Sawiris and his party were the remnants of the ousted regime and encouraged people to boycott Sawiris' enterprises.
On the other hand, Morsi denied making those statements, telling Daily News Egypt that “it is impossible that such statements would come out of me.”
Morsi said that a video of the meeting in Mansoura is posted on the FJP's website for everyone to see.
Coptic lawyer Naguib Gobrael, head of the Egyptian Union for Human Rights Organization representing Sawiris, said in the complaint that Morsi spoke collectively and accused Sawiris of “insulting Islam” which Sawiris considered a threat and incitement for violence.
"Morsi also said that members of the party received bribes to sign proxies which is slander," Gobrael said.
The Free Egyptians Party launched a fierce attack Wednesday during its inaugural ceremony against the Muslim Brotherhood and the FJP, accusing them of "political fraud, lack of political astuteness and helplessness.”
