Detained blogger's trial adjourned to Sunday

CAIRO: A military court adjourned Thursday the trial of blogger Maikel Nabil until next Sunday to give lawyers enough time to examine the case documents, in a clear shift in military trial procedures, which have been criticized by rights groups for their speed and lack of legal representation.
"Maikel was charged with publishing false information about the army and insulting the military institution," Mark Nabil, Maikel's brother told Daily News Egypt.
"We still do not know how many years Maikel may get because of these charges, but we have to wait and see."
Nabil was arrested by military police on Monday from his home in Ain Shams, and detained for 15 days pending investigation, and then appeared before a military court on Thursday.
Known for his controversial views regarding the state of Israel and other issues, Nabil cited on his blog what he calls the army's conspiracy against the revolution, recounting torture allegations against the army in a post titled “The army and the people are not one hand.”
He wrote his blog post one day before he was arrested, which is said to be a possible reason for his detention.
