CAIRO: In North Sinai, a few thousand protesters gathered in Sheikh Zowaid, Al-Arish and Rafah cities where there is an absence of both police and army forces to protest against Mubarak and the government. “All tribes here share the same wish, Mubarak must leave now,” one Bedouin told Daily News Egypt on condition of anonymity for the sake of his safety. “We are maintaining the safety of the city ourselves…and the borders are secure,” he added. In Arish, the state security building was hit by an RPG. “We believe there maybe some extremists behind the attack. But there is no way any of the protesters are responsible for it,” the Bedouin said. No further details were available on the attack. Thousands of citizens protested in the main Geish Street in Suez, reportedly joined by pro-Mubarak protesters, according to one protester there. “Everybody chanted slogans against Mubarak,” the protester who didn't want to be named told Daily News Egypt. “Other citizens from Suez paved their way to Cairo to join their fellows in Tahrir square seeking to reach the presidential palace,” the protester added. “There are no less than 25,000 protesters now and the number is increasing,” a Ghad party senior member Ahmed Abdel-Gawad told Daily News Egypt. “During the protest, the citizens arrested eight thugs and turned them in to the army,” Abdel-Gawad added. The people, according to Abdel-Gawad, are determined not to leave before Mubarak steps down.
