CAF says Ahly match in Addis, not Khartoum
Published in Daily News Egypt on 03 - 01 - 2007

CAIRO: The Confederation Africaine de Football (the Confederation of African Football, sometimes known as CAF) yesterday denied reports that it had scheduled the Ahly game with Etoile du Sahel in Khartoum and said the appointed venue was in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.
According to www.cafonline.com, CAF's official website, "The super cup match between Ahly and Etoile du Sahel will take place as scheduled in Addis Ababa on 18th February 2007. All information regarding a shifting of this match from Addis Ababa to Khartoum is unfounded and was never announced by our Confederation.
Earlier media reports had suggested the Reds would meet Tunisia s Etoile Sahel in Sudan as part of the CAF's 50th anniversary celebrations. Sudan is one of the four founding members of the organization. Egypt, South Africa, and Ethiopia are the other three founding members.
As part of the events commemorating the 50th anniversary, a friendly match between Egypt and Sweden will be played on Feb. 7 in Cairo to raise funds for charity.
However, the CAF CAF is expected to convene in founding city Khartoum for its 28th General Assembly between Feb.10-12, where a forum on the future of African football is to be held.
