I am not jinxed- Abdul-Monsef
Published in Daily News Egypt on 09 - 09 - 2008

CAIRO: It is true that Mohamed Abdel-Monsef does not have the best reputation among Zamalek fans, thanks to his involvement in several slip-ups that hit the Whites in recent years.
However, the international goalkeeper, whose Egypt career is not much dazzling as well, rejects the idea of being jinxed , speaking exclusively to FilGoal.com.
* FilGoal: Some people believe you are jinxed, what do you say about that?
Abdel-Mosef: I totally reject these claims. In fact I believe I was lucky in many times. I saved my team on several occasions, but sometimes there is bad luck as well.
* You were overlooked in Egypt s recent game with DR Congo, did it affect you?
Of course I was sad not to be there with the national team. I know I had a difficult time during the past few weeks, but that does not mean I am not part of the team. Anyways, I respect the manager s decision and I don't see much of a problem with my elimination. I can still make it to the squad in the future.
* What happened in the 3-0 defeat at the ASEC game?
Supporters must be aware of the difficulties we faced in the trip to ASEC. It took us about 27 hours to reach Abidjan. It was very exhausting, not to mention the tough weather conditions, the artificial turf and the bad luck we had during the game.
* Do you think Zamalek fans would accept such excuses?
I am not trying to justify our failure, but this is the truth. There were mistakes, but we did our best there.
* Your next opponent will be Ahly, what are your chances of starting the game?
I am not sure yet, but I do not accept being treated according to recent results rather than my overall performance. I also refuse the rotation system for goalkeepers.
* There were rumors that Zamalek are aiming to sign Essam Al-Hadari, does that bother you?
I am not sure about these allegations, and I will not be dragged into making comments like "I accept challenging Al-Hadari or "I am ready for it and so on. I am committed to Zamalek and I was delighted to sign a new contract with the club. Zamalek is my destiny and if anything happens it won t influence my loyalty.
