Published in Daily News Egypt on 15 - 02 - 2007

AIN SOKHNA: Internationally renowned Swedish golfer Christian Nelson, holder of the 2006 record of Tee in Dubai, participated in the Ain Sokhna Golf Tournament with 90 international players.
Calle Carllson, manager of the Golf Course at Ain Sokhna, organized the successful event that was divided into two main parts.
The PRO-M was the opening event that saw sponsors playing with Nelson, while the main tournament including 90 golfers compete in the main game.
On the sidelines of the tournament were the Vodafone beat the pro competition and the Vodafone longest drive event.
The first game was played on three holes where guests were invited to play and ended with Nelson challenging the guests on one hole.
The second one saw nine finalists compete against each other before "Christian showed them how it's done Carllson told The Daily Star Egypt with a laugh.
Despite not being the first time Nelson visits Egypt to play golf, he was impressed with Stella De Mare resort and enticed by the golf course that he described as "a wide open course with a good layout which makes it great for practice.
Even though only a few Egyptians participated in the tournament, Nelson is convinced that with some training and the promising evolution of Golf in Egypt, the country will give birth to many good players in the future.
Nelson is sure to come back to Egypt, especially to Stella De Mare. Egypt boasts good weather and is relatively close to Europe. With many more signature courses in the pipeline Egypt will soon become an attractive destination for international golfers.
