CAIRO: Education sector administrators will be holding four protests over the next month, Fawzi Abdel Fattah, chairman of the committee to defend the rights of the education sector administrators, said in a meeting Wednesday at their syndicate. The series of protests will kick off with one in front of the cabinet building in Downtown Cairo on March 29. Three protests will follow on April 5-7 in front of the People s Assembly (PA). The syndicate is protesting against the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance's failure to deliver a 50 percent pay increase that the PA approved as part of the amended teachers' law in 2007. Last week, the syndicate for education sector administrators issued a statement criticizing the government for overlooking the difficult economic conditions in Egypt. The statement further claimed that administrators and workers in other sectors in Egypt have benefited from a 75 percent increase in their salaries.
