On the occasion of celebrating the National Orphan's Day, McDonald's (Egypt) sponsored a fun day event at the Gezira Sports Club. Football star Hesham Hanafy, singer Edward, actress Hana Shiha and radio host Marawan Kadry joined the celebrations. Around 300 orphans from Awlady, Bint Misr and Al Mabara orphanages attended. The fast food chain led a three-month long internal fund raising campaign. During the celebrations, the company used the collected money to buy appliances and equipment needed by the orphanages. McDonald's (Egypt) has been a sponsor of Bint Misr association, which cares for over 70 children, since January 2007, donating LE 10,000 each months to cover the tuition fees of the children. It also sponsors 120 children residing at the at Awlady orphanage, in addition to construction and expansion work at the establishment. /p
