Deena DouaraOver 30 organizations joined efforts for the first time Friday, Feb. 23 in Sayyeda Zeinab's National Children's Cultural Center to raise awareness about "street children," and to provide them, and the neighborhood, with a venue for arts and activities. The motto of the event was "Street children are society's responsibility." Many organizers and NGO heads lamented the absence of awareness and concern for street children, saying that this stems largely from misconceptions. Organizers hope to make Feb. 23 a national day of awareness for children living on the streets./p
