Madinaty's first international sculpture symposium

CAIRO: Under the patronage of Talaat Moustafa Group, Madinaty First International Sculpture Symposium is being held in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture s Plastic Arts Sector, "to reflect the significant role played by culture and modern arts in enhancing the lifestyles of communities, according to a press statement.
More than 12 international sculptors are participating in this artistic festivity, which will take place until April 30. The twelve artists are currently working on their sculptures at the Madinaty development site, which is 100 meter above Al-Mokattam level.
International participants include Karoline Ramersdorfer from Austria, Janine Waintrop from France, Kamen Tanev from Bulgaria, Hori Yasushi from Japan, Roland Hôft from Germany, Firat Engin from Turkey, Carmen Tepsan from Romania, Dimitris Skalkotos and Eva Cridi from Greece, Jumber Jikia from Georgia, Luca Zuppelli from Italy and Roberto Monzano from Spain.
Egypt is represented in this event by some of its leading and most prominent sculptors, who have helped put Egypt on the map for modern and post-modern sculpture. Among these artists are Professor Gaber Higazy of the faculty of fine arts in Alexandria University, Saeed Badr, Shams Al-Koronfoly, Tarek Al-Komy, Nagi Farid, Salah Abdel Rahman and Vivian Al-Batanony.
"The Madinaty Symposium is spearheaded by the famous Egyptian sculptor Salah Hammad, who is considered a pillar of the artistic movement in contemporary Egypt, said the statement.
TMG's largest development to date, Madinaty comprises a land area of 33.6 million square meters in New Cairo City with a proposed residential capacity of 600,000 people. Sales commenced at Madinaty in 2006, and the project is expected to complete in 2023.
