FASHION FOCUS: Dress up
Published in Daily News Egypt on 02 - 05 - 2008

As you enjoy the summer sunshine, it's also time to change your style. Store away your favorite boots, jackets and shades because this season is all about color, floral patterns and the signature dress.
Dresses had made a comeback last year, but that was only the beginning. In Spring/ Summer 2008 there's just so much to choose from, so enjoy our pick.
The floor sweepers. These are the ubiquitous long, loose dresses. Not only are they comfortable but they also elongate the body, giving a tall and slim feel to your silhouette. They look good in solid colors with detailed rims, and asymmetrical shapes; and look even better in bold floral prints and abstract patterns.
The Millefeuille. Like the French pastry, this dress is all about the rich layering. Short and frilly, this dress looks delicate and romantic. It usually isn't figure hugging, but is still sexy showing off a lot of legs.
The Cocktail dress. This season sees a lot of mid-length typical cocktail dresses, available in an array of bold colors. Opt for shades of yellow, from saffron to mango, or blues, from electric to sky blue.
The Toga. The look of ancient Rome has been redefined. Originally worn by men during the Roman Empire, the silk or chiffon fabric flowing over one shoulder is ultra feminine in today's world.
The boho chic. This dress is more about the patterns than about the cut. It's all about ethnic designs, African or Indian, with a folkloric feel (even psychedelic) touch of the 70s' hippie style. Paired with over-sized bangles and wedge heels, the look is complete.
The Safari meets City. This dress is short and has lots of pockets. Unlike the rest of the season's designs, it comes in kakis and beiges. The cut is slouchy and casual -not to be worn to a fancy event. It is best worn by day.
You can pair it with a skinny waist belt, and huge sunglasses to give it a stylish edge.
