So Vintage, Dahling!
Published in Daily News Egypt on 23 - 11 - 2007

The advent of seasonal festivities makes me feel disarmingly in need of partaking in some form of effervescent indulgence. Last May I entered the bijou home of Cecile Lacorre, well off the beaten track in Maadi, to view her elegantly understated presentation of fashion and home accessories: Khamsa Design.
Isabelle Moullier, a jewellery designer, also displayed some of her creations in a separate room. In retrospect, I remember being dazzled and I left eager to spread the word.
Fortunately, during the final week in November, these derring-do friends, always in the wake of Parisian catwalk chic, will be exhibiting an oriental glam-vintage revisited collection. I had a sneak preview of what I perceive to be subtle forms of what was, is and will be, in: A divine fusion of cultures, quite seductive and full of timeless mystery.
Cecile, with her quintessentially retro additions, aims to share her passion for color and scintillating textiles. Her insatiable curiosity as she immerses herself in Cairo life, and spends quality time watching the craftsmen and women at work, has made each bag, ballerina shoe, stole, throw, lampshade a part of her ... a masterpiece, original and a joy to don.
The unusual alchemy of Isabelle Moullier's jewellery perfectly complements the rich atmosphere of silks, sequins, and leather.
I have a particular penchant for the weaving of legendary tales, and these are without doubt heirloom quality treasures.
Moullier is well traveled and uses antiques, clasps, jade among other historical rare pieces, making each piece completely unique. The whole experience is ineffably refined and a definite happening not to be missed.
