CAIRO: The State Council Cairo Administrative Court rejected Tuesday an appeal by Moussa Mustapha Moussa over the contested leadership of Al-Ghad party and reiterated its previous decision that Ihab El-Khouly remain party chairman. The latest decision confirmed the court's initial decision made Feb. 7, 2007 which ended a longstanding dispute over the party leadership and recognized El-Khouly as the legitimate chairman. Party member Wael Nawara told Daily News Egypt, "Yesterday's [Tuesday's] verdict was merely a confirmation. Everybody realized that no matter how many papers he [Moussa] comes up with, the truth will come out in the end. This matter has ended. El-Khouly held a press conference after the verdict in which he called on the state institutions to uphold the court decision, singling out head of the Committee for Party Affairs Safwat Al-Sherif to uphold the decision and to lift the ban on the party newspaper in his capacity as head of the Higher Press Council. "We should look now to the future, there are many challenges we are facing, and elections are coming up. We need to organize our party for that and we are looking to widen our base of popular support, Nawara said.
