CAIRO: Authorities at Cairo International Airport detained political activist Ahmed Maher, a founding member of the "April 6″ movement, upon his arrival from the United States of America on Friday, sources at the airport said. Maher was detained because he was on the airport's watch list, the sources stated. The public security sector had asked the airport to place Maher on the watchlist, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported the sources as saying. Authorities said that Maher was detained for protesting in front of minister of interior Mohamed Ibrahim's house last March while wearing underwear, a source told Reuters News Agency. "April 6″ is a pro-revolution movement which played a vital role during the 2011 popular uprising that ousted former president Hosni Mubarak. BN
