SINGAPORE: Across the entertainment industry on Tuesday there was a sense of vindication for their work after Singapore received three international Emmy nominations. “It is a great sign that we are pushing in the right direction and getting noticed is always a way of being vindicated after years of suffering,” said a local executive producer in a telephone interview with Bikyamasr.com. “The local market for entertainment and creating our own shows is growing and this will only help keep us going strong,” he added. Singapore's The Kitchen Musical, a Glee-like musical-dance-drama revolving around the story of a young girl fresh out of a Parisian culinary school who goes to work in her father's famous restaurant, has received two nominations at the International Emmy Awards. One of them is for Best Drama Series, the Associated Press reported. The Kitchen Musical will compete for Best Drama with France's Braquo, Hong Kong's ICAC Investigators 2011, Australia's The Slap and Argentina's The Social Leader. The other is in the Best Actor category for Filipino actor Arthur Acuna, who plays the restaurant's general manager. Singapore received a third nomination for The Challenger Muaythai, a martial arts reality show, in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category.
