ADDIS ABABA: A new customer service agreement was signed by Airtel Tanzania and Spanco Raps as the end of the telecom operator's customer service week comes to a close. The week aimed to promote a “culture of valuing customers in the country," the company said ahead of the promotional week. Airtel said that it believes that by linking with Spanco it can continue to offer its 8 million users across the East African country the “excellence and effective delivery of mobile phone services" that their customers have come to expect. According to the new partnership, Airtel said it “will have state of the art call center facilities and equipment managed by partner Spanco Raps Tanzania." It added that 97 percent of current inquiries to Airtel's customer service representatives are from customers interesting in understanding how to use their data packages, set up their mobile devices and mobile money services offered by the operator. Spanco's country director for Tanzania Chandrashekhar Narayanan said his firm “offers customer service across the globe, handling over 400,000 calls a day for telecom clients." The move should help continue to boost Tanzania's mobile and telecom industry as Airtel and other operators hope that by boosting customer service in the country they can increase their subscription rates.
