CAIRO: Egyptian political activist and co-founder of the April 6 Youth Movement Ahmed Maher turned down an invitation to join the presidential advisory board that President Mohamed Morsi is forming to bring together a diverse panel from the Egyptian political scene, the group said on Monday. Maher turned down the position for several reasons according to the statement, including the group's and the public's dissatisfaction with the new Cabinet formed by Morsi, in which activists said it assigned persons loyal to the old regime. The group said an internal debate was started upon receiving Maher's invitation and the the members agreed that refusing it down was the right move at the present moment. The movement said they currently prefer to continue their government monitoring role and added they would gladly offer advice and cooperation if needed, in addition to their role in “exposing corruption and working on social justice.”
