KUALA LUMPUR: China is to get an Angry Birds theme park, Rovio Entertainment, the maker of the popular game, said last month in outlining a series of parks and retail outlets inspired by the mobile game. It said that two Angry Birds theme parks will officially launch in China this fall, the China Daily reported. One will be in Haining in Zhejiang province, and the other, smaller in scale, will be in the Sino-Finnish Center at Tongji University in Shanghai. It comes on the heels of an unofficial park that was opened in Changsha last year without permission from the creators. However, a Finnish park has already opened to the public on June 8, which will make China the second destination for the theme park. Base on the smartphone game, Finland's Särkänniemi Adventure Park has twelve rides at the park, including a roller coaster, a lighthouse and an adventure course, along with themed dining areas, the Daily News reported. Rovio hopes that by launching the park in China it can boost its presence in the world's largest country and make a push for over one billion users of the game.
