CAIRO: The Algerian football community is in mourning on Wednesday after two footballers reportedly died on Sunday in two separate incidents. The country's football federation reported that AS Khroub striker Hamza Bounab, 28, who had previously played for CR Belcourt, MO Constantine and Béjaiïa collapsed during a friendly in the city of Ain Abid and died shortly afterwards while medics were trying to resuscitate him on the pitch. Then, Algeria 2010-11 champions ASO Chlef and 20-year-old defender Noureddine Boutaïba reportedly drowned near his hometown after a workout on the same day, the FAF said in a statement, sending condolences to the families of both players. Bounab team mates said the player was the initiator of the friendly meeting meant to incite Algerian bachelors to marry.
