ENPPI held Algerian side ASO Chlef to a goalless away draw in the first-leg of the Confederation Cup round of 32 on Friday. Coach Hany Ramzy deployed a defensive strategy that was successful against Chlef's toothless attack. ENPPI need to grab a home win in two weeks time if they are to progress to the competition's last 16. Alhasane Dante should have put Chlef ahead in the 20th minute but he failed in his attempt to convert a close-range shot home. Noureddine Fellag's deflected shot produced a scare but it went just wide of the post. ENPPI striker Hossam Mabrouk almost stunned the home crowd just before the interval when he hit a low shot into the bottom corner of the net but his goal was ruled out for offside. In the second-half, Chlef had just one clear opportunity that was denied by the crossbar.
